Quick Start: Subscription and Client Setup

Activate a plan in your account, add the subscription to your client, then verify that you can access the services you need. If you have already completed a step, continue from the contents below.

Create an account and save your sign-in details

Select the “Free to Start” option below to open the MingVPN dashboard account creation page. No email address is required; just enter a username and password. You’ll use the username to sign in later. Choose a unique password rather than reusing one from another important account. Check your entries before submitting, and save your sign-in details in a trusted password manager.

If you’re signed in to another account in your browser, make sure it’s the account you intend to use before continuing. Plans, orders, and subscriptions belong to the account they were created under. Switching between accounts can make a completed order easy to confuse with an empty overview. If you already have an account, select “Log In” in the page header instead of creating another one.

After submitting, follow the dashboard instructions to open the account overview. You should be able to identify the current account and access the plan and download sections. Creating an account does not activate a plan or establish a client connection. Next, choose a billing option and check that the order is active. “Free to Start” is the dashboard entry button; plan prices and availability are shown in the dashboard.

Choose a plan and check the payment status

Open Plans in the dashboard and consider how often you’ll use the service. If you use it regularly and want a fresh data allowance each month, review the monthly plans. If your usage is less predictable and you want to use the remaining data over time, review the data packages. Check the price, data allowance, and billing terms before choosing. You don’t need a higher-tier plan just to install a client.

Monthly plans: ¥9.9/month for 60GB, ¥18/month for 250GB, and ¥28/month for 500GB. Data resets monthly on the activation date, not at the start of each calendar month. If you upgrade mid-cycle, the price difference is prorated for the remaining days. Data packages: ¥158 for 300GB, ¥358 for 1000GB, and ¥658 for 3000GB. They last until the data is used and never expire. The difference is how data carries over; data packages do not provide a recurring monthly allowance.

Before paying, check the plan name, price, and data allowance shown in the order, then use a payment option provided in the dashboard. Alipay, WeChat Pay, and USDT are supported. Follow the instructions for the current order. Don’t use payment details sent by someone else, and don’t create the same order repeatedly if the page doesn’t update immediately after you return.

After payment, return to the account overview and confirm that the plan status has updated before getting your subscription. If the payment page shows success but the overview hasn’t changed, refresh the dashboard and check your order history. If the status still doesn’t match, submit the order details through the dashboard ticket system. This service offers 14-day refunds; see the refund policy for instructions. For a full price comparison, see the Plans page.

Get your subscription and choose an import method

Once your plan is active, open the account overview and find the subscription options. You must be signed in to get your subscription. If the dashboard offers an import option for your client, use the matching option. Otherwise, copy the subscription link. Don’t copy the overview URL from your browser’s address bar; it opens the dashboard, not the subscription data your client needs.

The subscription link lets your client load the server configuration associated with your account. If importing manually, copy the entire link without missing any characters at the end. Don’t include instructions, line breaks, or extra spaces. The example below shows the format only; it is not a working MingVPN subscription. Use the link shown in your own account overview.

https://example.com/sub?token=YOUR_TOKEN

Keep your subscription link as secure as a password. Don’t post it in public forums, paste it into unfamiliar online conversion tools, or show it in full in a support screenshot. Your account password and subscription link serve different purposes. After changing your password, check that your subscription is still secure. If you think the link has been exposed, check the dashboard for a reset option or contact support through a ticket.

After copying the link, keep the dashboard open and go to the download section to get the client for your platform. If an import button does nothing, the compatible client may not be installed, or your browser may not have handed the link off to the app. Install the client first and try again. If the interface supports it, you can also import the link manually. For details on subscription updates and formats, see the FAQ. Continue here to set up your client.

Import into a client for your platform

This guide uses the MingVPN client provided in the dashboard and does not link to standalone installers. Downloads for Windows, macOS, Android, and Linux are available after sign-in; you must also be signed in to get your subscription. The iOS download option requires an active plan. Check your device platform before downloading, then follow the import instructions in the dashboard after installation. There’s no need to look for installers elsewhere.

Windows: Add a subscription or configuration

On your Windows device, open the download section, get the matching client, and install it. When you launch the app, look for a “Subscription,” “Configuration,” or similar management page rather than connecting right away. If the dashboard has an import button that opens the client, try it and confirm that it launches the installed app. If it doesn’t, return to the client and choose “Add Subscription” or “Import from URL.”

Paste the full subscription link from your account overview into the URL field. Choose a name that helps you identify its purpose, then save and update the configuration. The client should show selectable servers, not just an empty configuration name. If the server list is empty, check the link source and plan status. Once the servers appear, open the connection page. For system proxy options, start with the client’s standard default and avoid changing several advanced network settings at once.

macOS: Import first, then review connection permissions

Download the matching client from the macOS download section and install it by following the system and installer prompts. The first time you open it, confirm that it came from the download provided in your dashboard. In the client’s subscription or configuration manager, choose the import-from-link option. If you use one-click import from the dashboard, make sure it opens the client you intend to use.

After saving and updating the subscription, confirm that the server list has loaded. When you connect, macOS may ask you to allow network configuration or related permissions. Check that the request comes from the client you just installed, then follow the prompt. Don’t disable system security settings to troubleshoot a connection. If the client has a menu bar icon, you can check the connection status there. Seeing the app icon alone doesn’t mean the proxy is working; complete the website and exit IP checks at the end of this guide.

Android: Import the link and allow the VPN connection

Sign in to the dashboard on your Android device and open the download section to get the matching client. Install it as prompted, then open the subscription manager or configuration page and choose an option such as “Add” or “Import from URL.” Paste the subscription link and save it. Return to the server list, update the subscription, confirm that server names or regions appear, and choose a server to connect.

The first time you connect, Android may ask you to authorize a VPN connection. Confirm that the request comes from the client you’re using, then allow it. Keep the app in the foreground while you verify the connection, then check access after switching to another app. If it works in the foreground but disconnects in the background, check your device’s background activity and battery settings. Menu paths vary by system; for details, see the mobile background disconnect section in Troubleshooting.

iOS: Get the download option after activating a plan

On your iPhone or iPad, sign in to the dashboard and confirm that your plan is active. Then open the iOS download option and use the App Store link provided to get the MingVPN client. The iOS download has different requirements from other platforms; signing in alone is not enough. If the store says the app isn’t available in your region, check your store account region and the instructions on the page. Don’t install configuration profiles from unfamiliar sources.

Open the client and use the import method provided in the dashboard. To import manually, paste the subscription into the client’s subscription, configuration, or add-from-link section. Update it and wait for the server list to appear before connecting. If iOS asks to add a VPN configuration, confirm the app name and follow the system prompt. Importing a subscription and authorizing a system VPN configuration are separate steps: the first provides the servers, while the second lets your device connect. Both may be needed for the service to work.

Linux: Choose the matching build using the dashboard instructions

Linux users can also get the client from the download section after signing in. Check the dashboard’s installation instructions against your system environment, then install the client and import your subscription. If the configuration interface differs from those on other platforms, follow the same sequence: add the subscription, update the server list, then select a server and connect. For permissions, proxy environments, or command-line settings, see Troubleshooting. Avoid changing other networking tools during initial setup.

Get the Client

Connect to a server and verify the connection

Once the client has loaded the servers, choose one that matches the region required by your target service, then connect. For your first session, choose from the regions listed in the dashboard; there’s no need to keep switching to find a particular city. Coverage includes 90+ countries and 150+ routes. The specific routes available to your account depend on the subscription data loaded in your client. For server selection tips, see the Servers page.

After connecting, open a website that requires an international route and check that it loads. Then test the key features of the app you want to use. For example, confirm that you can open the AI tool’s interface or play a video on a streaming service. A client showing “Connected” only indicates that it has entered a connected state; it doesn’t confirm that the target service works.

Next, open the IP lookup on this site and compare the exit IP before and after connecting. In rule mode, different requests may use different routes, so interpret the lookup result in the context of your current proxy mode. A region label alone doesn’t prove that every app is using the connection. If the lookup fails, don’t assume the route is unavailable; check access in your browser and apps as well.

If you run into problems, keep your current settings and check these items in order: the plan is active, the subscription is updated, a server is selected, and system connection permissions are granted. If a website won’t load, try another server and test again. If only one app has a problem, check the client’s rules or per-app settings. Change one thing at a time so you can identify what made a difference. For DNS, proxy mode, and background activity issues, see Troubleshooting. You don’t need to try every advanced option just to get started.

MingVPN has no limit on the number of devices that can be connected at the same time. Install the appropriate client and import the subscription on each device; the connection toggle is controlled separately on each one. If multiple people use the account, keep the subscription credentials secure. To contact support, submit a ticket through the dashboard with your platform, the issue, the server name you selected, and the steps you’ve tried. Before sharing screenshots, hide your password, full subscription link, and sensitive payment details. Include enough information to reproduce the issue.
